Leadership Development – provided leadership development program for operational leaders of a pipeline company. Topics included management tactics that aren’t typically taught in leadership programs and included discussion/application of each topic into business. Designed and facilitated multi-month leadership development processes, including training/discussion sessions, assessments, competencies, mentoring or executive coaching, company project assignments, multi-country moves, etc.
Knowledge Transfer & Coaching Training - Evaluated performance and evaluation practices, then developed curriculum and delivered certified operator and certified Trainer-Coach and Train the Trainer programs across the corporation – 8+ sites in the U.S. Continue to provide training on the Trainer-Coach program to company personnel.
Training Guidance and overall Training Plan for Control Centers – Developed Training Guidance document as well as Training Guides (OJT topics by date with sign-offs), Training Modules, Study Guides, and conducted an assessment of training practices, providing recommendations to improve overall training program for Controllers and other Control Center personnel. Overall plan involved guidance on developing, implementing and evaluating training and aligning with operations objectives, including field objectives and responsibilities of field personnel.
Procedures Writing & Overall Procedures Plan – Developed a process and Guidance documents for the writing of procedures. Developed naming and numbering convention, procedure format, and plan for writing all procedures. Worked with subject matter experts, hired and trained writers and managed writing process with consultants/writers and company personnel. Process and guidance involved validation/verification of procedures.
OJT Training Guides – Developed a number of “on the job” Training Guides for several companies to facilitate knowledge transfer while the Trainers/Coaches were working alongside the Trainees. Training Guides were set up to allow ongoing discussions while on the job, but used to improve consistency in training, assurance that all required topics had been covered and completed before OQ, and assure that Trainees were also progressing along the several months of OJT training.
Curriculum Development & Assessment/Test Development – Worked with various pipeline teams to develop a training curriculum for various clients. Developed self-study and instructor-led training modules involving equipment, processes, job responsibilities, locations, etc. which clients loaded to SharePoint for company-wide access. Documented work processes and training topics needed. Developed training guides, training modules, and various types of evaluation and verification processes and tools. Also developed instructor guides, checklists and assessments/tests/quizzes.
Systems Manuals Development/Revisions – Provided consultation to develop a format and overall writing plans for rewrite/revision of System Manuals (which included procedures) for control centers and field locations.
Workforce Development Plans & Curriculum Development – Worked with a number of energy (including nuclear plant) companies to design training programs and to form collaborative industry partnership for joint development and purchase of training programs. Managed state grant funds allocation to support training programs for industry partnership.
Automation project – Re-engineering/Job Analysis Consulting – Provided job analysis and restructure recommendations across several years to support the automation initiative in the field. Analyzed technical/operations positions across eastern U.S. and proposed recommendations for restructuring. Worked across several field locations to analyze jobs, functions, equipment, processes, etc. Wrote new job/role descriptions and performance analysis.
Curriculum & Evaluation Process Development – Co-developed with consulting team & company personnel, the training, evaluation and certification model & process for employees on all procedures. Also co-developed a strategy for driving knowledge and retention throughout the organization.
Operator Qualification - Training of Trainers – Co-developed curriculum for the operator qualification process. Facilitated a number of training programs for OQ trainers, who then delivered the training across the companies.
Control Center - Curriculum Re-Format/Re-Write - Developed curriculum, training guide and evaluation processes for control center controller and associate controller positions for all the desks/consoles.
Training Requirements Team Facilitation - Facilitated the Training Requirements team through process development of overall training plan related to regulatory/compliance training based for the industry. Reviewed hundreds of employee training requirements and plans for meeting objectives on rolling timeframes to meet regulations and ensure proper training and safety of company personnel and the communities.
Selection Process and Career Progressions – Developed the selection process, job description and evaluation criteria and forms for selection of the Field Training Specialists. Developed a number of career progressions including: District Training Coordinator, Field Training Coordinator, Human Performance Specialist, Trainer-Coach, etc.
Competency Writing/Development – Developed competency model for Operations group and wrote competencies. Provided recommendations regarding intermix of company leadership and other competencies in planning development for the group.
Curriculum Model Development & Evaluation & Compliance Plans – Developed model & process for technician development & evaluation. Developed operator maintenance training & compliance plan (OMTCP)
Survey Development – Developed Industry Benchmarking Survey for other petroleum & pipeline companies, related to: Training, Operator Qualification, Evaluation, Qualification Practices
Reliability initiative (new Planners) – Modified the Trainer-Coach program into a Train-the-Trainer program and taught new planners how to best teach/train on the materials they need to present to Operators, Lead Techs & Technicians. Qualified personnel through the process.
